Fahimeh Amiri

(Tehran, Iran, 1947 - )

Fahimeh Amiri grew up in Tehran, Iran. In second grade she became the pupil of Professor Hossein Behzad, then the greatest living Persian miniaturist, and apprenticed with him for many years. She attended the Tehran School of Fine Art, becoming the first girl to earn the schools highest honors. Fahimeh received national awards from the Ministry of Education and Queen Farah. She attained her BFA from the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. Her 13 original poster designs and the publication of her children's books have gained international attention through exhibitions including the New York International Art Expo. Fahimeh illustrated three books. Babri received distinction by The Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators. The Monkey Bridge, was selected as one of the 30 books exhibited at Norman Rockwell Museum. Her most recent book, The Prince Who Ran Away was published by Knopf, and is taught at some elementary schools. Her work has been exhibited in International Art Expos, the National Arts Club of New York, and the National Women’s Association of Artists. Since 2014, her work has been annually selected and exhibited at Utah's Springville Museum as part of the two annual juried exhibitions—the Spring Salon and Spiritual and Religious Art of Utah. At the 2016 Zion’s Bank art show, Fahimeh was awarded the Certificate of Recognition and most recently she was recognized by the prestigious Utah Governor's Mansion in 2018.
