Victor Joseph Jean Ambroise Segoffin was a French Sculptor born in 1867 in Toulouse. His early education was at the Lycee Pierre de Fermat. After school he was admitted to the Toulouse School of Fine Arts in the Studio of Charles Ponsin-Andarahy. In 1887, he was orphaned and joined the army. He furthered his education at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Segoffin won the Prix de Rome for Sculpture in 1897. His work was part of the sculpture event in the art competition in the 1912 Olympics. He became an instructor at the Ecole, and became an officer of the legion d’honneur in 1922.
