(Rostov-On-Don, Russia, 1910 - 1972)
From SMA Website: Aleksandr Ivanovich Laktionov was an acclaimed socialist realism painter in the post-war Soviet Union period. Many describe his works also as early photo-realism due to the detail and life-like qualities of many of his paintings. He studied at the Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the Academy of Art under famous artist Isaak Brodski between 1932-1938. He is quoted as saying that true happiness is "to work without too much cleverness, without fuss, constantly learning from nature, drinking in the true source of eternal freshness and understanding life."
