Matt Madsen is best known for his landscape paintings. He was born in Logan Utah on January 13, 1911. He studied at Brigham Young University. He supported his family by panting homes and businesses, eventually opening his own studio in Murray, Utah. He was commissioned to paint large murals showing western life in various state buildings across Utah. He began to rely on this as an income instead of panting houses, making enough to support his wife and their four daughters. He died on October 10, 1996.
