Curt Walters

(1950 - )

Curt Walters developed a love for art early on in his life. When he was fourteen his sister received a paint set for her birthday. He says, "it took me about two minutes to steal it from her." He began painting on the walls of their farmhouse in New Mexico, and at age fifteen sold his first work. When he was nineteen he made his first visit to the Grand Canyon, and this monumental sight has been his greatest influence and muse ever since. Walters has not only spent years painting the Grand Canyon, but also working to preserve it from increasing pollution problems through involvement with The Grand Canyon Trust. In addition to the Grand Canyon, Walters also returns to familiar places in New Mexico and Colorado to paint, and often organizes and participates in painting excursions around the area.
