Max Harrison Blain
(1906 - 1993)
Max Harrison Blain of Spring City and Mount Pleasant, Utah, was a rather well-known realist landscape painter (snow scenes, houses, trees, mountain ranges, roadways, etc.) who studied with John H. Stansfield (q.v.). He worked in oils and transparent watercolors and was a secondary schoolteacher-artist of note in Sanpete County. Blain became art supervisor for the North Sanpete School District. He was a graduate of Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, as well as Brigham Young University, and exhibited in New York City and many towns and campuses throughout the West. Blain is best known for his western landscapes; at least three paintings by him are in the Snow College Collection.
