Max Dickson Weaver
(1917 - 2012)
Born in Layton Utah and attended Utah State where he discovered he wanted to pursue a career as an artist and a teacher. He taught art at two high schools until he received the call to serve in the military during World War II. After his service he taught at Logan High School until he was hired by the College of Southern Utah (now called Southern Utah University). He and his family eventually moved to Orem, Utah where he taught at Brigham Young University for twenty-one years. He also gained a Masters in Art from Utah State University. After his retirement he and his much beloved wife, Ruth Mabel Stoddard Kimball Weaver, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois. While he was a landscape artist he also loved to work in many mediums, including mosaics, oils, watercolors, monoliths, etchings, ceramics, and woodcuts.
