Vladimir Aleksandrovich Beklemishev
(Ekaterinoslav, (now Dnepropetrovsk) Ukraine, 1861 - 1919)
Vladimir Beklemishev was born in Ekaterinoslav, (now Dnepropetrovsk) Ukraine in 1861. He entered the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg in 1878 and in 1894 he became a professor and head of the scuplture workshop in the Higher School of Arts at the Academy. In 1906 he become the rector. In 1919 Beklemishev left the politically charged climate of St. Petersburg to be a lecturing professor at the new University in Novorzhev, but died soon later on December 26.
