She was born in 1903 in Tacoma and graduated from the University of Utah in 1929, receiving her MFA from Claremont and also pursing an E.ED and a PhD. She taught art, design, textiles and related subjects in all levels of schools including the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. She travelled extensively and was engaged in archeological research.
