Alexei Pavlovich Belykh

(Krutets, Russia, 1923 - )

Belykh was born in the town of Krutets in the Orel province in 1923. He worked as a textile designer and exhibited amateur paintings in Moscow from 1947. He studied at the Surikov Institute in Moscow from 1952-1958, then at the Kostroma Art College from 1958-64. He recieved the title of Honored Painter of Russia in 1965 for his contributions to art. The Springville Museum also has work from his wife Nadezhda, who studied at the Kostroma college during his years there as a teacher.
