Hyunmee Bohi Lee

Hyunmee Lee was born in Seoul Korea. She grew up practicing Western Modern art, influenced by eastern painting and calligraphy. She majored in painting, graduating from the Hong-Ik University. At the end of her studies she moved to Australia. She stayed here for six years and achieved two more degrees. She exhibited her first show in 1989, a contemporary art book. After receiving her MFA from the Sydney College of Arts, University of Sydney, she returned to Korea. She taught at Hong-Ik University as a lecturer, and exhibited several solo shows in major galleries and art fairs in Seoul. In 1997 she moved to Utah, and became a faculty member at Utah Valley University. She had her first solo exhibit in America at the Woodbury Art Museum in Orem Utah in 2002. After receiving tenure, her focused shifted more towards her art which is now her full time profession.
