(Provo, Utah, 1949 - )

Robert Theodore Barrett, an illustrator, painter, and educator, is a talented master of many techniques. Barrett graduated from the University of Utah (B.F.A., 1973) and the University of Iowa (M.A., 1975; M.F.A., 1976) before studying at the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin as the recipient of a German Academic Exchange Grant. Returning to Salt Lake City, he worked as an illustrator, during which time he completed several murals, ten of which are located in the mineral hall of the University of Utah's Museum of Natural History. Other murals are located at Dinosaur National Monument in Vernal, Utah; Fossil Butte, Wyoming; Hilldale, Kansas; the Minnesota Zoo; the St. Louis Zoo; and Vicksburg, Mississippi. Barrett also showed his oil and watercolor paintings at the Springville Museum April Salons (1981, 1985) and worked as an illustrator for LDS Graphics for two years prior to joining the design department faculty at Brigham Young University, where he teaches illustration and figure drawing.
