John Owen Erickson, a native of Salt Lake, is a fine expressionist figure painter who also teaches at the University of Utah as a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Art. A Summer Fellowship participant at Yale University (1975), Erickson graduated from the U of U (B.A., 1981; M.F.A.). This powerful and imaginative painter has been a regular exhibitor of his intense work for many years now, produced in his longtime studio in the Guthrie Building in downtown Salt Lake City.
