Edward L. Fernsten was born in Oakville, California. He is well known for his etchings, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He is almost entirely self-taught; however he studied for short periods with Robert Graham, Pauline Peavey, Boardman Robinson, and Lawrence Barrett. He is represented in many private collections and has made over 100 plates. He is a member of the Print Makers Society of California.
