Kent Robert Wallis
(1945 - )
Born in Ogden, this talented painter began as a businessman with an increasing interest in the artist's life and pursuits. Having earned both a bachelors and a masters degree in business from Utah State University in the mid- 1960s, he moved to Akron, Ohio, and afterward took a job with B.F. Goodrich. Self-taught as a painter, Wallis also became involved in workshops here and there along the way, especially one at the Art Students League in New York, conducted by Gustav Reahberger; then in 1975, he opted for a career as a full-time professional artist and left his office job behind. Today, Kent R. Wallis is a Logan resident and a fine impressionist painter whose lush vegetation-filled townscape and landscape scenes in oil on canvas are shown locally (Salt Lake's Southam Gallery, etc.) and nationally. Kent and Laureen Wallis are the parents of Eric Kent Wallis (q.v.) Scott Wallis (q.v.) is Kent's brother. (b. Janurary 10)
