Warren Bingham Wilson, b. November 4; d. November 30, was a native of Farmington, Utah. This talented artist earned a B.S. in education at Utah State University (1943), then went to the University of Iowa for his M.F.A. (1949). Joining the Utah State art faculty just after graduation from Iowa, he was there until 1954 when he was appointed to the faculty at Brigham Young University. Hired as a sculptor and assistant professor in art education, Warren Wilson carried on an art-education orientation at BYU that was quite different from what was going on at the University of Utah during the same period. An emeritus professor of sculpture and ceramics, he exhibited his work ("rough hewn wood sculpture of figures" and "abstract compositions of combined thrown sections for ceramic sculpture") widely and received numerous commissions over the years.
