J. (John) Leo Hafen of Salt Lake City and Springville, Utah, was the first child of famous Utah painter John Hafen, who seems to have been his son's early mentor. He used oil and pastel to create sensitive tonal landscapes during the turn of the century. He seems to have given up on an art career and become a photographer in Provo.
