Paulmar Torsten J. Fjellboe
(1873 - 1948)
One of the most fascinating of our earlier painter personalities, Paul Fjellboe was born in Odalen, Norway in 1873. As a young man, he became a soloist with a choir in his home country. Fjellboe came to America in 1905, traveling with fellow Mormon convert, Christian Johannesen (father of famed pianist, Grant Johannesen). Once in Salt Lake City, Fjellboe became a member of the local Norwegian Chorus and was increasingly well-known for rather richly oil-painted views of Utah's mountain landscape.
