Jerry B. Yazzie is of Beclabito and Shiprock, New Mexico, and Provo, Utah. He is a Native American painter, draftsman, and printmaker who studied with Bruce Smith (q.v.), among others, at Brigham Young University (B.F.A.). He is a semiabstract or stylizing realist whose interests as an artist are "familiar subjects from his youth" and the modern western experience, themes expressed through figurative compositions painted primarily for the artist's own pleasure.
