Vladimir (Lado) Osmanis Dze Seidashvili
(1931 - 2010)
Vladimir Seidishvili was a Georgian painter and poet. He began his graphic arts training in 1956 at the Tbilisi Fine Arts Academy. After graduation he worked at Batumi’s national press as an artist-editor. He also wrote poetry, plays and made scenery for theater stages.
His work is described as mainly expressionistic, but his earlier works are much like other Soviet Era painters in the severe or rough style. He himself admits that although many of the painters of this time were trained to paint in this “ugly realist” nationalist style “there was always an optimistic light in my works. I’ve always believed good times would come.” He passed away in February 17, 2010.
