Patrick Francis Bagley
(Salt Lake City, Utah, 1956 - )
Patrick Francis Bagley, is the Salt Lake Tribune's talented editorial cartoonist. In 1990, Bagley was interviewed by Daily Utah Chronicle staffer Rebecca Walsh, and the following is a portion of the result: "Editorial cartoonists do not have to be fair in their commentary about human events…. [They] 'are the ones who go in after the battle and shoot the wounded,' said Pat Bagley,…cartoonist and author of Treasures of Half-truth and Oh My Heck. 'He kicks the guy who kicks the dog. Cheap shots are really easy because there is always an element of truth to them…. [But] You have to understand I come from a tradition of gentle humor.' Ideas for cheap shots are more prevalent when the Legislature is in session because there is so much available to ridicule, Bagley said."
