Closely associated with J. T. Harwood from 1908 until Harwood's death in 1940, Elsa Saxod finally pursued studies at the University of Utah beginning in late 1940 in connection with the Extension Division. She also took classes at the university until 1953 and actively exhibited her work in Salt Lake as a faithful member of the Associated Utah Artists and the Everett Guild. Her work was decidedly "candy box" construction, with long horizontal mountain scenes being her favorite.
