Ann Marie Oborn
Oil
(Pocatello, ID, 1947 - )
Anne Marie Oborn, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Bountiful, Utah, works in a color-impressionist style, and specializes in plein air, still-life, and landscape. Oborn is also a traditional figure painter and drawing specialist, who studied with the great Russian impressionist Sergei Bongart, and Utah State University artist Adrian Van Suchtelen. Her training also included intensive study under Petrov Vadimavich at the Russian Academy of Art. Her media of choice include oils for painting and charcoal for drawing.
Oborn's works are a fitting addition to the Springville Museum of Art collection, because of their stunning color and Russian influence. Many of the great Soviet artworks now hanging in the museum have definite inroads into Oborn's pieces with their brilliant hues, openness, and straightforward rendering.
