(Isaac) Loren Covington

(Orderville, Utah , 1885 - 1970)

(Isaac) Born in Orderville, Utah, Loren Covington was a very well-known landscape painter and educator in St. George. Although he was never able to become a full-time painter, he created many exquisite works based on scenes of the Southwest. He studied at Brigham Young University with Elbert Hindley Eastmond, who was the Chair of the Art Department. In 1917, he lived in Harbor City California, where he worked in the shipyards. He also painted signs in Los Angeles and Hollywood. He was well known for his thoughtful paintings of Utah's National Parks like Zions and Bryce Canyon.
