Adrian Van Suchtelen
(Semarang, Indonesia, 1941 - )
Adrian Van Suchtelen, a talented realist as well as a figurative semi abstractionist printmaker and painter, was born in Semarang, Indonesia. When he was ten years old he lived in Leiden, Holland, the hometown of Rembrandt, and he attributes this to what got him interested in art. He studied at El Camino College (B.F.A.) and Otis Art Institute (M.F.A., 1966). Having also trained with Joseph Hirsch, Joseph Mugnaini, and his faculty colleague, the late Moishe Smith, this gifted and sensitive master of understatement has exhibited his work widely and won numerous awards. He taught art at and was a department head at Utah State University for thirty-seven years. Since his retirement he has been able to more happily enjoy himself in his creative pursuits. (b. June 18)
