Zelda Bills

(Holladay, Utah, 1936 - 2004, Salt Lake City, Utah)

Zelda Bills, painter and educator, was born in the Salt Lake Valley's Holladay area, and is now a resident of Salt Lake City. She received academic degrees from the University of Utah (B.F.A., 1970; M.Ed., 1976), and her work appears in the Sheraton Hotel Collection as well as private collections throughout the country. Her work has been shown extensively in the local galleries, in group shows as well as one-woman shows, and she taught at the Art School in Salt Lake City (the Zelda Bills Studio). She has painted throughout this country as well as Canada and Mexico, and is eloquent through both pictures and words regarding her apprehension of nature via the oil, watercolor, pastel, and mixed-media techniques. Also a dedicated teacher of painting, Bills wrote a very good book, Oil Painting: A Guide for the Beginner (1979), for the new student in which her encouragement of individual creative growth is consistent throughout.
