He studied at the University of Utah (M.F.A., 1982) and taught painting at the Southern Utah University art department for a while beginning in 1986. Over the years, Bangerter's work was described by Dibble (q.v.) of the Tribune as "thoughtfully inscribed," and "probing." Following his sojourn in Cedar City, Bangerter spent a number of years in Europe before returning to the U.S.
