Harriett Richards Harwood
(Salt Lake City, Utah, 1870 - 1922, Oakland, California)
Harriett "Hattie" Richards Harwood was the wife of J.T. Harwood (q.v.) and a Parisian-trained painter of what Alice Merrill Horne (q.v.) called "elusive flower" pieces showing delicate effects. She was part of the first group of women from Utah to study abroad, traveling to Paris in 1888 to study at the Academie Julian. One of her oil paintings, Etude (1892), was exhibited in the World’s Columbia Exhibition in 1893. Harwood died in 1922 in Oakland California.
