Anna Robinson Spiess

(Salt Lake City, Utah, 1909 - 1986)

Born in Salt Lake City, this painter and concerned patroness of the arts made her home in Bountiful, Utah, for the last thirty years of her life. Having studied with Joseph A.F. Everett and Harold D. Olson, she began her studio career essentially as a watercolorist, and was an active member of the Utah Watercolor Society. However, the artist soon moved to other mediums as well, including acrylics, casein, and oils. Her work (landscape themes, for the most part) ranged from realist to more distinct stylization. She also endowed the Anna Spiess Gallery of the Bountiful-Davis Art Center.
