Frank James Nackos of Springville, Utah, was appointed in the mid-1970s as a member of the Brigham Young University art department faculty, specializing in sculpture and crafts. Nackos is responsible for numerous formal pieces based upon geometrical sensitivity. "Although contemporary in image," he says, "my sculptures are based on rational order and classical concepts." Born in Salt Lake City, this fine and talented artist originally studied at BYU and then California State College in Long Beach. He returned to Utah in 1962 and lived in Payson before settling in Springville. He has shown his work at the Palos Verdes Invitational Exhibit of California Sculptors, the Salt Lake Art Center, various Utah Arts Council Annuals, and on many other occasions in a wide range of settings.
