Mitchell Hooks is an American artist and illustrator renowned for his artwork for paperback books and magazines (The Saturday Evening Post, McCall's, Cosmopolitan, Redbook) Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 2, 1923, Hooks painted paperback covers for Avon, Bantam, Dell Books, Fawcett Publications and others. He illustrated romance novels, science fiction and crime fiction, such as the Ross MacDonald's Lew Archer, Peter Corris's Cliff Hardy and B.B. Johnston's Superspade series. Hooks illustrated How to Respect and Display Our Flag for the U.S. Marine Corps. He also designed film posters, including Dr. No and The Face of Fu Manchu.
