Maud R. Hardman of Salt Lake City was an arts educator and a painter/printmaker. As a painter she specialized in the transparent-watercolor medium, was a regional realist, and favored landscape themes. Joining the University of Utah Department of Art faculty in 1922 as an instructor in elementary education, her involvement ended in 1938 as supervisor of art in the Stewart Training School. In later years, she lived in Sedona, Arizona, but in her day she was a powerful force in the community with regard to art in the schools.
