Florence (Neslen) Frandsen, of Springville and Salt Lake City, and Seattle, Washington (in retirement), became a wonderful art teacher over many years. The Springville Gallery Collections and exhibits inspired many a young artist as the years of new century went by. From an initial interest in art via contact with that unique Springville institution, such talents as Florence Frandsen moved on to careers devoted to local art education. She eventually became head of the art department at Granite High School in Salt Lake City, and found initial training at Springville High. Collegiate studies included work with Maurice Stern, B.F. Larsen (q.v.), Spencer Mackey, Lee Randolph (q.v.), E.H. Eastmond (q.v.), Calvin Fletcher (q.v.), and Ralph M. Pearson (q.v.) at Brigham Young University, the California School of Fine Arts at San Francisco, the Art Barn, the University of Utah, and Utah State University. Her particular interests as an oil painter and watercolorist ranged from Utah's old mining towns to coastal scenes. She also became an adept and prizewinning wood engraver, as well as garnering awards for works in more expectable painting categories. The wife of fellow painter and teacher Ed Neslen (q.v.), Frandsen experienced her best days as an artist in the 1930s and 1940s
