Clifford Donald Doxey

(1928 - )

Don Doxey was born in Ogden, Utah in 1928. He is a painter known for photo-real western still-lifes and western genre paintings. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. Doxey earned his BFA in 1950 and his MFA in 1955 from the University of Utah where Alvin Gittins was an influence on his work. He had furthered his study at the American Art School in New York City, and he worked for a time as a staff artist at NBC. When he returned to Salt Lake City, he began teaching at some of the local junior high schools. Some of his notable works are The Ambassador, The Wedding Dress (1967), and The Marriage (1965).
