Mark Bevan Petersen

(1953 - )

This very talented painter and draftsman from Salt Lake City is becoming increasingly well known for work that continues to evolve beyond the handsome landscape studies he was creating in the 1970s. During that earlier time, he was the associate of Doug Snow in the painting workshop at the University of Utah/ Snowbird Summer Arts Institute (1974-79). Having also attended Utah State University, he earned his degrees at the University of Utah (B.F.A., 1975; M.F.A., 1982). Petersen was a valued member (registrar) of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts staff in the 1980s in addition to his ongoing career as a most promising painter in oils and acrylics. In 1988, Petersen exhibited at the Grande Palais museum in Paris, France.
