Maryann Webster was born in San Francisco, and her family resided in northern California where her father's microbiology research was located. She received her B.A. in Art Education from Brigham Young University, then continued her education at San Francisco State University, before receiving her M.F.A. in Art from the University of Utah. Her ceramic sculpture is part of the permanent collections of the De Young Museum, San Francisco, Musee de la Ceramique et Peinture, at Beziers, France, ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center, at Arizona State University, Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Logan, Utah, N.C.E.C.A. Cups Collection, and the Salt Lake County Art Collection. Her work has been published in Confrontational Ceramics by Judith Schwartz, A&C Black, London, also Bernard Palissy et Ses Suiveurs du XVI Siecle a Nos Jours, by Christine Viennet, Editions Fatons, France and Mold Making and Slip Casting by Andrew Martin, Sterling Publishing. Selected periodicals that have included her work are Ceramics Art and Perception, American Craft, Kerameiki Techni, and Woman's Art Journal.
