Oliver Horace Parson

(Kansas, 1916 - 2013, Rexburg, Idaho)

Oliver Horace Parson of Kansas and Placentia, California, studied at the University of Utah, Colorado State, and Weber State (bachelor's, 1939) before completing and M.F.A. at the U of U (1948). He became a professor in and the chair of the art department at Ricks College in Idaho in 1954. Parson focused on teaching and museum work, and was a public school art teacher in Salt Lake City and Ogden previous to a dual appointment as a teacher for the Springville schools and as curator for the Springville Art Gallery Collection. Today, he is honored as a past director of the Springville Museum of Art. Parson is a gifted oil painter and watercolorist as well as the father of fellow painters Del and Leon Parson. (b.
