Edward Deloy Maryon was born in 1931, the oldest of three children. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from East High School. He received his BFA from the University of Utah in 1952. After graduation he served in the Army at Ford Ord, California. He received a MFA from the University of Utah in 1956 and began teaching in 1957. He served as the Chair of the University’s Art Department, Acting Dean of the College of Fine Arts and the Dean of the college. He taught full-time until his retirement in 1991. He taught an annual watercolor workshop in Monterey California for over thirty years. He passed away in 2005 with complications of Parkinson’s disease.
