Anatol Shulkin

(Russia, 1899 - 1961, New York )

Anatol Shulkin was a Russian born painter, graphic artist, lecturer and teacher. His studied included time at the NAD with L. Kroll, ASL, Columbia University, BAID, and with Charles Curran, George Bellows, and others. He was a member of the NSMP, the AEA, and the American Artists Congress. He worked with the MMA, WMMA, painted murals for the Barbizon-Plaza Hotel, various WPA murals and more. He taught at the CUA school, and the Newark School Fine and Industrial Art. Skulkins exhibitions were as follows: NAD, 1921 (Chaloner scholarship); PAFA Ann., 1932-34, 1940-42; 48 Sts. Competition, 1939; Corcoran Gal biennials, 1930-43 (5 times); CM; CAM; Rhode Island Mus. Art; CI; Am. Artists Congress; Soc. Indep. Artists; Pepsi-Cola, 1942; VMFA; WMAA; MMA; AIC. Awards: mural competition, Section FA, Wash., DC, 1935, 1937-38, 1940.
